Many people use a default installation of Windows which contains a bunch of add-ons, many of which most people never use. If you want to clean things up and generally thin out Windows a bit, you can remove these optional components from your machine. These optional components include such things as games (Minesweeper and Solitaire), HyperTerminal, Fax Services, etc.
To remove these options, you simply go into your Windows Setup. Go to the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs. Then click on the Add/Remove Windows Components. You can also enter setup by inserting your Windows CD-ROM. Once you are in setup, you will see a list of options. The ones you have installed are checked and the others are not. You can un-check the items you want to remove from your machine. On the other hand, if you see something you really would like to have on your machine, check it off. Once you save your changes, Windows will re-configure. If you chose to install anything, it will do so at the same time.
Good luck and happy cleaning!
