Get The Classic Theme In Windows 7

Windows Vista introduced the popular Aero effects which Windows 7 incorporates into it’s new interface. One thing it does not offer though is the ability to use the ‘classic’ theme many of us know and love. Although this theme was introduced in Windows 95, it is still very functional and clean. However, if you would like to use the classic theme, you can download a user created Windows 7 Classic Theme here.

From the screenshots, it is not a true classic theme that was available in Windows XP/Vista, however it is still a very close match. I don’t have Windows 7 to try it out, but most likely I will when I eventually have to upgrade.

I have read in several places that it does not…
Again, I do not have Windows 7 to verify but if this is the case, you can (obviously) ignore this.

  2. you dead right- windoe 7 DOES not have a classic theme– it seem that MS in ther widom toom it out of xp and vista

i use window 7– i tryed ther window 7 RC before it ceom out and preorder 6 mos a head of date it was to be sold– and while window i in some way better then vista– in some way it is not

ther made a few chnage to window 7 that i really do not care about

i found a web site on ZDNet called Six new annoyances introduced in Windows 7, and boy i totaly agree with it

window 7 is not a xp killer that MS claim it going to be

  3. All I can say is… Why??? Why would anyone want to make Windows 7 look like Windows 95? I just don’t understand the appeal. The same goes for the old Start menu. The new one is much more functional, IMO, but so many want the old one.

To each his own but I will never understand.

    • Speed. I use the Windows Classic theme for Windows 7 on my netbook. Cuts out all the animations and takes less screen space space to render.

  4. To run the Classic theme in Windows 7 just go to the control panel, select ‘Change the theme’, then select ‘Windows Classic.’ Job done.
