Give Windows XP The Vista Glass Effect

If you are a Windows XP user but really like the visual glass effects of Windows Vista, then Border Skin is for you.

Border Skin is a new free program that skins the windows
borders by skins composed of png images with the support
of 2 famous windows vista & 7 effects ( Blur and reflection )

Nothing much to really add here. When you run Border Skin, there is a control panel available in your system tray which allows you to control the settings. Additionally, you can set program exclusions in the event this effect causes problems on certain applications.

While this does not work 100% the way Vista does, it is an easy way to get the same eye candy effects.

Hm. Could be false positives, but AVG detected two uglies as soon as I clicked the extracted .exe.

      Avast! detected a trojan too.

This program doesn’t appear to work with HmmXP theme.

I’ve tried it (although briefly) with no issues on my system.

I thought you ran without a virus scanner? Given that, would you even know if you received any issues doing this? :P

        • Jason Faulkner

You are right, I run with no virus scanner, but I also run as a restricted user and keep tabs on all my running process. The program seems to work just fine within these boundaries.

False positives are quite common (at least with what I experience at work). I cannot and do not make guarantees about anything, so if you are not comfortable with it, don’t use it.
