It sounds like you downloaded the source files instead.

You want the Windows binary files (.exe).<br

Would like to know which file should be downloaded for use with Windows Vista. I downloaded gnucash 2.2.5 tar.gz then extracted using PowerArchiver 2001 and while in the archiver it shows it in folder gnucash below program files when I explore for it nothing is there. I backed up the chain in the archiver and found it was put in documents/user/me/temp/gnucash but windows will not explore to that folder. I'm sure it's a permission thing or defender maybe. What did I do wrong? I'm the only user and never messed with the permissions setup, quite frankly they leave me cross-eyed and cranky.
Thanks,
debbie

Hi,<br

From reading bug reports it appears to be a Windows issue b/c of how GNUCash communicates across ports within Windows. This keeps it from being an option for me. I think the GNUCash team needs to address this known issue before declaring its product to be Windows compatible.

It takes ~10 minutes to start up for me.
