If you visited Google today and got a bit confused that something doesn’t look right, you’re right. The big G changed what is known as a “favicon”, a small 16×16 graphic that appears to the left of the URL in most web browsers.

(note the lowercase blue ‘g’)
It used to look like this: ![]()
Whether this is temporary or permanent is unknown.
But most would agree the old G looks better than the new g.

Belgian favicon has changed.
Wether the old or the new looks better, truth is that everyone’s just plainly more used to the old one.
I personally like the new favicon better, although I agree with Fishy that everybody’s used to the old one. It will take a while to fully accept the new one.
I knew something looked different about Google when I went there this morning… I just couldn’t put my finger on it!
Personally, I like the new one, but I also like the old one. Still, it’s just a favicon, what’s all the fuss about? It’s not like Google changed their name to Microogle or Yahoogle.
“Goosoft” would have been a good one.

Just went and checked it in Firefox 3, and there IT DOES have the lower case blue g. Must be an issue with firefox, as IE doesn’t show any change…
