Google Isn’t The Only Search Engine Out There

Posted Aug 14, 2007 | by Jason Faulkner

One thing I think a lot of us are guilty of (myself included) is limiting our searches to a single search engine, for everyone I know, this is typically Google. For the most part, if you are searching for something general such as “race cars”, “how to use a chainsaw”, etc. this is fine, however if you are searching for something extremely specific you should not limit your searches to a single search engine.

I thought of this tip today as I was troubleshooting a specific (and apparently rare) error message with one of my servers. Google’s results pulled up several hits, but not what I needed, I then searched MSN using the same search terms and found the answer.

So keep this in mind next time you are looking for something specific. Here is a quick list of some of the major search engines which you should give a shot:

  • Google
  • MSN
  • Yahoo
  • Ask

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...

this has to be a joke. if you are into websearches, then at least give us tip worthy of opening the email.

so if you want to find good searchengines or searchengine reviews you go to
    searchenginewatch.hom

and for introduction to searchengines and applictions go here
    http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=webmasters

    or try searchengine.com for overviews
langenberg.com is an incredibly useful tool

but if you hate the overwhelming recall of google, then try
vivisimo.com meta that can be closely definied search
    teoma.com
    wisenut.com

and for documents and text and many other things

    looksmart.com

but this is not such a great tip and really there are many very good specialized engines out there that the so-called tip needs a bit of improvement.

so next time, maybe an improvement on the tips because this ws just plain waste of clicking to open.
