In last week’s Iowa caucuses and last night’s New Hampshire primary, Google Maps got involved. Was Google out there pushing for a candidate? Of course not. They were, however, showing which counties went for what candidates.
In their blog post on the subject, they said that the map for the Iowa caucus was quite popular. So, they decided to do it again for New Hampshire. When you visit the New Hampshire results page, you clearly see the state of New Hampshire which each county color coded to show which candidate won the majority in that county. You can change the map to break it down for either Democratic or Republican candidates. And in true Google style, they even relate a few Youtube videos of various candidate speeches from last night.
This reminds me of that big red and blue U.S. map that came out in the last couple presidential elections. You KNOW Google is going to do that LIVE this year in November.
I really like this style of election result. It is fair and unbiased. You’re not waiting around for some television pundit to get around to the information you want. You’re not dealing with commercials. Its just the facts, and at Google speed.
My only complaint is that it shows Hillary as the winner. Arggh….oh well. Here is my one political commentary for this post: Can we not PLEASE kick the Bushes and Clintons out of Washington? Seriously, we’ve got kids going to college today that have never had anybody in the White House with a last name not Bush or Clinton. No dynasties, please.
