Google Maps "Street View" feature has spawned controversy since day one of its introduction. We’ve had it in Florida for some time now (click image for larger view) but only in Orlando and Miami. I guess Tampa isn’t important enough.
Starting today, bean town (i.e. Boston Massachusetts) will have Street Views on Google Maps. The reason this is a bit more unnerving compared to other regions of the USA is because New Englanders by nature are very protective of their privacy. I know this because I grew up there.
Google has stated, as they always have, that they take privacy concerns seriously. Maybe so, but Bostonians will be going thru every inch of what’s seen for Street Views for Boston with a fine tooth comb. If they find anything (and I mean anything) that’s considered privacy-invading even to the slightest degree, you can guarantee Google is going to hear about it. Several times.
