Ever since the internet came into existence, sports discussion has always been there; it’s a topic that as long as teams are playing, it will be talked about. In pre-web days, many text discussions were about sports. In post-web, the earliest internet "portals" always had a sports section. In modern day, sports stories and discussions are still in that old-school portal style because that’s the format that works best for the medium.
Although there are many sites for sports news and discussion, the three I’m going to talk about are Google News / Sports, Fox Sports (MSN) and Yahoo! Sports.
Google News / Sports
Site: news.google.com/?topic=s
Google amazingly does not have a dedicated site just for sports. This is pretty shocking considering all the advertising revenue they could gain from it because sports is always a guaranteed cash cow. The way Google handles sports news is to shove it in with the rest of Google News. It’s there only as an afterthought and nothing more, and it’s obvious they just don’t care whether you read it or not.
FOX Sports (MSN)
Site: msn.foxsports.com
This is much more in line with how a sports web site should look and act like. Right at the top are the scores, starting with MLB that you can easily change to another sport via quick-and-easy drop down menu:

Another left-to-right sidebar is below that for easy ways to get to the sports news you want very quickly:

At top right there’s sports talk radio and you can customize the site to your liking (requires Windows Live account, a.k.a. Hotmail address):

Basically put, MSN FOX Sports nails it. My only real complaint is that the site is a little too "busy". On first experience you’re absolutely clobbered with content. This is good, don’t get me wrong, but it takes a little getting used to.
Yahoo! Sports
Site: sports.yahoo.com

Love or hate Yahoo!, they have a fantastic dedicated sports web site. Compared to MSN FOX Sports, this one doesn’t clobber you as much with content and is easier on the eyes. You don’t get as many sports scores up front as MSN FOX, but you do get navigation that’s easier to figure out where you are and more importantly where you want to go.
The ‘My Teams’ sidebar, said honestly, is awesome:

You have to scroll down a little to see this, and it does require a Yahoo! account to customize (but who doesn’t have one of those?), but it’s well worth it to get this level of customization.
As far as which I think it’s best, personally it’s a tie between MSN FOX and Yahoo! for me. Both do the sports thing very, very well and you’ll be very pleased with either.
The best part is that the vast majority of the time these type of sites are never blocked at work. CEOs have to get their sports scores, after all.

I follow ESPN, though i might change my this if Google starts their sports site, coz i just love Google – it’s convenient to use their online applications..
Before I am searching sports article in yahoo because I was using yahoo as my search engine always but when I was found out google I start stwitching to this search engine. I was now the 10 search enigne and give really accurate information.
I mainly follow ESPN Boston’s RSS feed for New England sports news, but when I want to look through the latest national headlines, I’ll use ESPN.com and Google News.
