“Through the magical world of cross site scripting”, a user called “Mox” in the social networking part of Barack Obama’s website managed to redirect traffic to Obama’s site over to Hillary’s.
A cross-site scripting vulnerability is essentially a hole in programming code which allows users to inject their own programming code and have it run. They are fairly common in web-based applications that have not been properly secured.
This story is interesting for one reason: it involves the presidential election. These types of hack jobs happen all the time.
My reaction is simple: what difference does it make? These two people are both basically of the same mold, as far as I’m concerned. Maybe Mox was onto something.
Here is a video with some dude coming up with the usual political tin-foil hat conspiracy theories. Dude, face it: Mox did this for fun. Not everything has a plot behind it.
