First of all, a little clarification: when I say “a lot” in the title, I mean an absurd about of data (i.e. 100+ GB).
If this is the case and you want to use a remote backup service which uploads your files to their respective servers, initialially loading your data can be a huge problem for a variety of reasons (bandwidth limits, slow upload speeds, etc.). To potentially remedy this problem, Amazon’s S3 service offers AWS Import/Export.
Basically, you just load your data along with a security key onto a portable hard drive and ship it off. The data is then loaded on their system and your device is shipped back to you. There are lots more details available on their page, but if you do have a lot of data you want to backup remotely (or recover quickly) you can see the appeal.
Note: This is not a paid endorsement, in fact I do not even use this service.
