It’s about time Asus and ABIT decided to make motherboards support the
AMD Athlon processor. I believe, the reason they haven’t done so
earlier is because of the pressure from everyone’s favorite Big
Brother (besides M$), Intel. Believe me, we’ll get to Intel
later in this Episode. Now, as I was saying, Asus, my favorite
of the two mobo makers, is making the K7M. Here’s a clip from
their site:
The
K7M is based on AMD® AMD-751
chipset with ATX form factor for the latest support in AMD AthlonTM
500~750+MHz (K7) processors. Such new chipset is the first of the
kind to incorporate with 200MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) in the x86
platforms. This mainboard features support for UDMA/66 data
transfer, AMR
slot, and JumperFreeTM Mode via BIOS setup. The
additional upgrades provided include USB ports, PC Health Monitoring
and Yamaha Audio. With two existing USB ports onboard, users can
also upgrade with two more additional USB ports via the bundled USB
connector set for greater expansion.
That,
obviously means that ASUS has grown balls. By putting that
information on their website, admitting they are making a motherboard,
they openly spite Intel, whom, earlier this year, gave explicit
instructions to motherboard manufactures NOT to make AMD motherboards,
or they’ll experience a shortage in Intel Chipsets in the future.
Speaking of that threat…
Did
Intel ever HAVE testicles?
What kind of ball-less bully
makes a threat like that? COME ON INTEL, THAT’S NOT GOOD P.R.
AND YOU KNOW IT! You should have learned from your buddy M$
(Personally, I think their not just buddies, their doing each other)
that suppressing competition like that openly can get you into a heap
of trouble with a federal judge, this website, and a lot of consumers.
I’ve already taken it upon myself to never buy an INTEL CPU every
again…and that goes on top of not buying an M$ products (from now
on, I will “borrow” them from friends.) he he he
To
appease all of you brainwashed by Intel, I will admit that for a long
time, Intel did have the best CPUs on the market, and even I was a
fan. But, in the computer industry, I’m a fair-weather fan, and
love whoever is making the best for the least dollars. But, in
American Football, I’ll
always be a Packer Fan.
