Whenever I listen to any sports talk radio this time of year, there is always talk of the upcoming NFL draft. One of the tools used to evaluate players is the Wonderlic Test which is used to measure intelligence.
The Wonderlic Personnel Test is a twelve-minute, fifty-question test used to assess the aptitude of prospective employees for learning and problem-solving in a wide range of occupations. The score is calculated as the number of correct answers given in the allotted time. A score of 20 is intended to indicate average intelligence (corresponding to an intelligence quotient of 100; a rough conversion is accomplished via the following formula: IQ = (2WPT + 60).
Curious about this, I wanted to see some of the questions asked on this test, so after a bit of searching I found this sample test on ESPN. Before giving it a try, make sure you follow the rule that you are only allowed 5 minutes to take this quiz.
I scored 14/15 (I missed the length of day question), but overall I was surprised how easy the questions were. That said, I cannot say if this was the “easy” portion of the test with the next ones being progressively harder or the fact that I was doing this for fun as opposed to in a pressure situation.
Regardless, this is fun test to take just to see how well you do.
