There’s a fair amount of geeks out there who prefer their UIs to look “computery”, and that’s what the videos below are about.
Windows had more or less the exact same look for five years (1995 to 2000) before XP came along with the Luna theme, and then Vista and 7 with Aero. However it’s generally true that you can customize much more by using what’s now known as “Classic”.
I do find it amazing that even now in 2010 you can still make Windows look the same way it did in 1995 if you wanted to. Granted, it takes a significant amount of effort to do it, but it can be done without the need of any third-party software.
