In short, enter:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/aliases
Look for a line which contains alias net-pf-10 ipv6. Change it to alias net-pf-10 off.
Save changes. Restart Ubuntu.
Hey dude can you please please help me im at the end of my patience with trying to connect my computer to the internet with ubuntu 7.10. I have sagem fast 800 adsl usb modem with the service provider talktalk ( bt service for sale from carphone warehouse ) Ubuntu cannot load the auto install parts of the disc which comes with the modem and I have absolutely no idea I have tried looking at forums but none of them seem simple enough for me to follow

It didn’t work for me dude.
It is very slow when first trying to download a page, but it is faster while navigating to sub-folders within that site.
But, thanks though.
I don’t think it is just that, might be a deeper issue.
