Have you ever had to “rebuild” your Dell laptop or desktop with a fresh install of the operating system (most likely Windows XP)? The easiest way to get all the drivers is to head over to support.dell.com, punch in your service tag and all the drivers for your specific computer will be readily available for download. You can burn all the drivers to a CD which you can then pop into the computer to install everything after you get the OS up and running.

Thank you for coming to my rescue!! Unfortunately, I did something really stupid to my dell laptop and wasn’t able to get past the “Welcome” page. Thought I had to download Windows XP to get back, which I did, but I didn’t have all my drivers, especially what was needed to get online!! UGH! Found your helpful info here and I’m back in operation. Just wish I would have found you before I tried reinstalling XP, because I didn’t know that Dell restore could still be restored as it tries to boot up using contol and F11 keys. Would have saved me a lot. But thanks for at least having this infor for me!!

I was trying to help a friend with his inspiron 1150. It starts up to the start menu then the screen shows a message that says insert the ‘status’ disk and click ok. where do I go to get a disk like this. It also says there is an error 126. What is needed to clear this.
Thank you,
Sherwood Frankenfield
