You may run into the situation where you ‘inherit’ a PC from someone else where the Internet Explorer is chock full of crap, namely toolbar apps. This is the long way to get rid of crap out of IE when you can’t reinstall Windows for whatever reason (usually not having the disc). It requires some simple uninstall procedures, followed by checking for folders to make sure they’re gone, running CCLeaner a few times, maybe one reboot (might be forced) and then your IE will be back to ‘factory default’.

This is not unique to IE8. It seems that just about anything you want to add to your machine wants to add a tool bar for you to use. Worst case I’ve see was an IE with about 6 lines available, the rest of the screen was toolbars.
Users usually have the opportunity of declining the installation of this stuff but click right on through and let it install.
I can never understand how some users can stand to have so many toolbars activated at once. I once told someone I could help them remove them for him so he’d have more vertical space and he didn’t even seem to care.
