It’s Memorial Day in the US today; you know this one because it’s most likely true you’re enjoying a three-day weekend. However when it comes to other holidays excluding the very-well-known ones, you probably have no clue when they are.
Fortunately, there are calendar ICS files you can download that will work with any calendar software you may use. ICS files work on smartphones, Yahoo! Calendar, Outlook, AOL Calendar, Mozilla Lightning and just about any other calendar you can think of.
The absolute best place to get ICS files are Holiday Files from Mozilla. Not only can you get the US holidays but also other holidays for nearly every other country on the face of the planet.
Just pick the calendar file for what you want to import, go to your calendar software, import, and it’s a done deal.
Special notes on proper setup for import
The easiest way to get the import of the ICS file done right the first time is to follow these steps:
1. Create a blank calendar (such as “US Holidays”).
2. Seek out your calendar’s import function; this should be relatively easy to locate whether you’re using local software or web-based.
3. When importing, purposely choose the new blank calendar you create to import the ICS file to.
That’s all there is to it.
