Now, a lot of you are probably wondering why the hell I’m actually bothering to publish an article about what you likely deem an incredibly simple topic. In truth, you’d be surprised how many people actually don’t know their way around the Chrome Web Store – or even their own browser.
Many of them are probably fairly new to Chrome, and not really sure how it works, or what everything does. Even if they manage to figure out how to install a Google Chrome theme, they might not necessarily understand how to uninstall it. To be fair, Google’s not necessarily clear about the matter, either.
Anyway, this one’s going to be short, simple, and sweet.
In the event that you want to install a new theme:
- First up, swing by the Themes section of the Chrome Web Store. Pick out a theme you like.
- Access the theme’s developer page. Click “Add to Chrome” when you’re there.
- Enjoy your new theme!
In the even that you want to uninstall your theme and return Chrome to its default appearance
- Click on the wrench menu (it’s the wrench on the upper right hand corner of the screen.)
- Click on “Options.” It’s the fourth item from the bottom of the drop down menu.
- Once in the “Options” tab, select and click on “Personal Stuff” in the menu on the left.
- Click on “reset to default theme” (it’s right at the bottom of the page).
- That’s it! You’re done!

Yes, but how do you uninstall even the default theme on windows xp, so that Chrome uses the same window decorator as other windows such as firefox, or windows explorer, or any other window?
