How-To: Make A Quick Weather Checker (Firefox)

Using Weather.com:

1. Go to www.weather.com.

2. Right-click inside the “Local weather” field and select “Add a keyword for this search”

3. Enter the name as “weather.com search” and keyword as “w”, then click the “Add” button.

4. Type “w” followed by your ZIP code in the location bar then press Enter.

Ta-da! Fast weather.com report.

Using Weather Underground:

1. Go to www.wunderground.com.

2. Right-click inside the “Find” field at the top and select “Add a keyword for this search”

3. Enter the name as “wunderground.com search” and keyword as “wu”, then click the “Add” button.

4. Type “wu” followed by your ZIP code in the location bar then press Enter.

Ta-da! Fast wunderground.com report.

    An even faster way to check the weather is to download the Forecastfox add-on. It sits in your menu bar, refreshing the data on it’s own. Then you don’t have to technically “check” the weather. It’s already done and you don’t have to do a thing.
    A much faster alternative IMO.

    I use Forefastfox, but I find that it’s regularly inaccurate in both temp and radar. If they could swap out accuweather for wunderground’s data… I’d be a happier camper.

    But yea – to get my local weather radar to popup I just saved the URL for wunderground.com’s page for my local city in my bookmarks. I type “wun” into my address bar and it’s the first on my list in Firefox 3. That’s all there is to it.

    If you don’t like accuweather, may I suggest the plug-in
    Forecastfox l10n. It is based off an old version of Forcasefox that used weather.com.
