I was experiencing the same problems with the last version of WLW and it really helped me. However, I think the right path to the blog templates is "C:/Documents and Settings/[USERNAME]/Application Data/Windows Live Writer/blogtemplates/". I think you forgot the "Application Data" in the middle, or it has changed in the recent versions. First, I’d like to say thanks for the info.
