If you or someone you know has a Mac and has forgotten the password, fear not as you can easily reset it following one of the methods discussed this appropriately named article "How to Reset Your Forgotten Mac OS X Password". There are two options discussed, one using the system recovery disc and the other involves a few command line calls to trick the OS installation into thinking you have not yet set up a password.
While these are pretty easy to do and realistically you can defeat any password using these methods, it just serves as a reminder that physical access to a machine always trumps any software security you have in place. If someone really wanted to get your files, they could pull out the hard drive and copy them.
