There have been several articles published about the dangers of cell phones, specifically concentrating on what most of these stories call "radiation". The word used in that context is, of course, used to attract readers, much like I used DOOM in mine. In factual terms, a microwave oven radiates a whole lot more than a cell phone ever would. Or a street corner curb for that matter. More on that in a moment.
For those of you who truly do have a concern about cell phone radiation, you have probably wondered if there’s some sort of tool you can use to detect these radiations. Yes, there is, and it’s called an electromagnetic field meter or EMF meter for short.
The best type of EMF meter to get concerning the "dangerous" stuff cell phones emit is one that detects both electric and radio fields. There are several that do this, but my personal recommendation is the Trifield Meter Model 100XE, pictured right. I personally think it’s priced right at $160 because it’s a solid USA-built unit that has a nice big meter that can be read easily from a distance with a real meter needle and not a digital display.
Owning one of these meters is actually something I’d recommend to anyone whether fearful of ‘dangerous’ cell phone emissions or not, because it’s just a good tool to have. I mentioned microwaves and street curbs a moment ago. Well, you’ll notice for microwaves that the meter will register emissions coming from the microwave when in use when within 5 feet of it (usually, maybe less). And as far as street curbs are concerned, many have power lines buried beneath them that radiate emissions that the meter will detect.
Is having an EMF meter good for use around the house? Sure it is. Everyone at some point encounters some sort of interference either at the TV, computer monitor, stereo speakers, etc. When you need a tool to pin down where interference is coming from, that’s when you need the meter.
For those fearful of the cell phone emissions, don’t be surprised when the EMF meter’s needle barely moves when placed next to your phone. Yes, there will be a reading, but it won’t be anywhere near super-dangerous levels. Sorry to disappoint, but that’s the truth. If you don’t believe me, get a meter and test for yourself.

It’s not just a matter of amount. Most people don’t go around for hours per day with a microwave strapped to the side of their head
Actually, it is a matter of amount; the primary treatment for EHS is to reduce exposure to electromagnetic fields – if you believe EHS is a real condition.
Can it also be used to pick up the presence of evil spirits?
Unfortunately, an EMF meter is not a mother-in-law detector.
