While it’s true the chance of your computer running a Linux-based operating system being infected with a virus is slim to none, it’s good to know how to perform anti-virus scans. Why? If there’s a file you downloaded that you plan on transferring from a Linux to a Windows PC, scanning it in the Linux-based OS first is a great idea. Or maybe you have some files you want to put “in a sandbox”, so to speak, and Linux is great for that also.
The video below shows how to scan files and directories for viruses in Linux. It does involve the command line, but it’s very easy to do.
