The first question you have is, “What’s the point of searching ended eBay auctions?”
There’s actually a very good reason for it. Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, it’s important to see how much a particular item sold for before going to buy or sell the same item yourself.
I’ll give a simple example. Let’s say you’re selling a vintage computer, such as a Commodore 64.
Here’s how to see the ended listings to get an idea of what the selling price for your old C64 will be:
1. Login to eBay. I’m going to go on the assumption you have an eBay account. If not, get one, because you need to get the specific search feature I’m about to show you.
2. Go to the eBay home page and next to the blue search button, click Advanced, like this:

3. On the next page, scroll down a little and check the box Completed listings, like this:

4. Scroll up, type in the item you want to search for in the search box, then click the blue Search button, like this:

5. On the results page, click sold listings, like this:

You will then see all the sold listings for the search term commodore 64.
Are there any limitations?
Just one. You will only see “sold” listings for the past 90 days and to the best of my knowledge no earlier than that. This is just fine because you would only be interested in the most recent ended listings anyway to gauge what the current going price is for any particular item.
