  1. Just because you’re on holiday doesn’t necessarily mean your house is empty. Friends or family might be staying there, people might be popping in to water plants etc. Hell, you might even have a house sitter as quite a few people do that nowadays. For a thief to assume because you’ve posted on Facebook that you’re on holiday, that they can just casually go round and rob your house, can’t be the brightest of thieves.
    With technology these days as well, people might have systems in place to make it look like someone is still using their house, when in fact it is empty. Lights coming on and off at random times, same for TVs, music etc, even to the extent of curtains/blinds opening and closing at certain times.Cameras can be set up so that if they detect movement, it alerts the owner by their smartphone etc. I’m babbling now, but you get my point.
