[INFOGRAPHIC]: 2012 Internet and Mobile Trends

Well, folks. That’s it – we’ve reached the end of the line. The last days of 2012 have finally passed us by, and we’ve moved forward into 2013. Everybody’s looking forward now – making New Years Resolutions and predictions about the cool new stuff we might see in the coming year. We’ll get to that soon – for the time being, we’re going to look back a little bit. After all, to figure out where you’re going, it’s best to first look at where you’re coming from, right?

With that in mind, today’s infographic, titled “2012 Internet & Mobile Trends”, presents a list of statistics related to the state of the Internet in 2012. The graphic starts with a brief look at global internet use statistics.

China topped the charts for the most Internet users, with 513 million, while the United States was a distant second with 243 million. The States did, however, come in first place for the highest number of 3G subscribers, with 200 million.

A few other interesting statistics from the infographic:

  • There were 953 million smartphone subscriptions and 6.1 million mobile subscriptions across the bloge in 2012
  • Android smartphones ship considerably more units for a considerably longer time after launch. This is likely due to both the short release schedule of Apple products coupled with the wide range of Android devices on the market.
  • Of all Apple devices, the iPad appears to be the most frequently purchased and shipped piece of technology after its initial launch. The iPod comes dead last.

The infographic can be found below. As always, click on it for a larger version, and I’ll see you folks tomorrow.
