Ion DEC-180 Digital Media Center Review

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy, painless setup
  • Sleek, attractive looks
  • Small size (can fit anywhere)
  • Functions well right out of the box
  • Easily integrates with existing home theater setups

Cons

  • High price
  • Limited capacity

Conclusion

After using the DEC-180 for a few months, I was extremely pleased with the unit and will be very sorry to let it go. If you’re interested in having a media center computer to record TV shows and bring all your scattered home media together in one place, the DEC-180 is a great way to get your feet wet. If you become a more advanced home theater PC aficionado, you may want to consider building your own out of individual components, but the DEC-180 provides a complete solution right out of the box in perhaps the most attractive looking package I’ve ever seen for a PC. The only thing holding me back from whole-heartedly recommending this product to anyone and everyone is the high price, but keep in mind that this is a one time cost and there are no ongoing subscription fees.
