IrfanView Might Just Be The Best Fast Image Viewer/Editor App

Certain free image editors like GIMP are fantastic, save for one problem – it loads a bit on the slow side. Once it’s running it runs nice and quick, but on startup it takes a while to get going. The reason is because GIMP is a rather large image editor packed full of features, much like Photoshop is.

Sometimes what people want more than anything else is just a lightning-quick image viewer with minimal editing capabilities like resizing and cropping because that’s all they need. If that sounds like you, you want IrfanView. This app is mostly known as a viewer, but it also has the simple editing abilities a lot of people are looking for as well.

It should also be noted one of the best parts of IrfanView is that it runs from Windows 95 all the way up to Windows 7 64-bit. How’s that for compatibility?

I agree and always go back to Irfanview. Additionally I appreciate the “save as” and pick a kb size. This is great for blog/forum posting that has file size limits.

  3. With its broad range of effortlessly-installed plugins, I find I need nothing else. It even manages OCR!
I’ve recently discovered that on my ageing PC it can cope with HD video when GOMPlayer stutters.
    Irreplaceable.
