You and your friends now have a cracked version of Battlefield 1942 and start the game. Everyone joins; however, during the game, the game begins to seriously lag. There is really no reason for it to be lagging if you have a fast enough computer to play and/or host, right? Wrong. Sometimes, a single lagging player can bring an entire game down with him or her. Its hard to kick a player off just because of lagging, but in practical application, it is quite necessary for a smooth session. One of the ways to identify a lagging player is by the player’s ping. A ping above 100 is acceptable, however, one that approaches 300 or 400 is just plain slow.
Another annoyance is the TK’er (team killer). Most FPS and RPG games either have a TK punishment system or a way to disable TK damage. However, if it is too late to change the setting, then advise the host to ban the TK’er. If you are the host, ban him using console commmands.
Finally, if cheating is a big problem, anti-cheat software, like HLGuard, always seems to do the trick.
