Keeping Your Time Even More Up-To-Date

Windows XP includes a feature that automatically synchronizes your system time with an Internet time server, but did you know that you can manually set the frequency of update to a much more timely interval? Go to Start -> Run -> Regedt32 and find the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient. Set value “SpecialPollInterval” equal to any value of your choosing, IN SECONDS. Do not choose a value like “1,” as this could seriously hinder your connection; instead, choose something like an hourly (which, even still, is quite extreme) or a daily interval (3600 or 86400, respectively).
