Vista is much better than it was in the beginning, SP1 and SP2 were substantial improvements and not a moment too soon. But they were too little, too late for most users who suffered thru the initial nightmare! Windows 7 is what Vista should have been all along….

My only comment is why chrome, from the “people who would do no evil”? I like the opera, clean simple, works well with both Vista and 7. And scales well, and lives nicely on my laptop and home computer. Works well with the movies, and flash thingies. And the price is very equivalant with chrome and Fox.

If you don’t have anything wrong with the computer, safe mode isn’t necessary. But, laptop was pretty messed up with spy ware, so got around that by booting into safe mode. To trigger the recovery mode, again rebooted the laptop and, this time, started smacking the F11 button over and over again until it entered recovery mode. Go through the little wizard and put the machine on its merry way formatting “C” and reinstalling Windows. Thanks for the updates.

Vista it the reason I run Mac now. It was horrible. If they managed to bandaid it to run acceptably, then fine. But, it still sucks, IMO. Windows 7 is far better.

1. What’s this badmouthing Vista all about? I have it, runs fine. Why give a bad name a bad name?
2. Suggest simplifying the process by telling wife since she failed to maintain her laptop properly, all her files are gone.

i run up on that one frequently , i run zone alarm on all my pc’s , when that one pops up , i lock down internet access with zone alarm , then i run malwarebytes and super anti spyware to root it out , before it gets a foot hold , havnt had a problem since i started locking it down from phoning home
