Leopard Is the New Vista, Says Rist

Looks like Oliver Rist, of PC Magazine, is getting his daily dose of Mac-lover hatred due to his rather scathing editorial on Mac OS X Leopard. A lot of his diatribe sounds very similar to my own article where I, too, questioned whether Leopard was Apple’s Vista.

As any tech writer who dares to question Apple knows all too well, the Apple lovers come out of the wood work to trash you silly when you write such a thing. They did it with me, and they’re doing it with Rist. MacUser.com has responded, bashing Rist and saying PC Magazine has returned to its roots.

I, for one, have changed my mind on Leopard. I went through a period where it was pretty unstable for me. Combined with the non-uncommon complaints about the new OS and a lot of die-hard Mac lovers saying some of the new features are pointless (like the re-designed Dock), I was questioning Leopard in a big way. I strongly considered downgrading my new Mac Pro to Tiger again. All this only a few months after upgrading to Vista on my Windows machine, getting frustrated with it, and downgrading to XP again. Needless to say, I was as battle scarred as they come with my trek into the world of new operating systems.

But, since then, Leopard has been behaving. In fact, strangely enough, I have had barely a hiccup with it since the day I wrote that commentary. Go figure.

But, today, Rist sets off yet another tidal wave of OS X discussion.

Get out the popcorn and settle in. This always ends up being a good, old-fashioned brawl. The two nerd worlds collide, and name-calling results. Here is case in point, where a true model of Mactard-ism spews his words of wisdom:

So get your head out of your a** Oliver and stick to writing what you actually know something about….what I don’t know….but it isn’t anything concerning Apple. I’m sure that after your other PC’s of Crap laptops have long since fell to pieces, your "slightly less hardware oomph per dollar than I’m used to" the MacBook Pro, that your friends had to PRESSURE you to buy, will still be performing brilliantly. Take some advice…..stick to your PC’s of crap….we don’t need your Bullsh*t analysis of anything Apple!!

You gotta love ‘em.
