Lian-Li PC60

Now on to the real features of this case.  This case is full of features and has room for almost everything.

The entire case is made of aluminun with the ouside being brushed to a fine finish.  The main frame is a simple box style.  Each face of the case has two hollow bars which add to rigidity.  This makes for a very sturdy case. The drive faceplates are even made out of aluminum.  There is one small piece that is not made of aluminum – the plate around the power and reset buttons.

This case has room for up to 4  5-1/4 drives and 3  3-1/2 external drives.  Internally, it has room for up to 5  3-1/2 hard drives.  More room than you would ever need and enough to space out the drives to keep things cool.  Everything in this case is removable by thumbscrews -  each drive cage and the motherboard tray itself.  This makes building and working on your computer even easier than before.

The motherboard comes out by removing 4 thumbscrews and sliding it rearward from the case.  There is a small handle to facilitate in this.  Mounting of the motherboard is done by using small square standoffs which are becoming very popular in high end cases.  They allow for turning of the screw without the stand off turning - a big problem with the copper nut standoffs.  Most the edges are rounded off, with the sharp ones protected by plastic.

The case we received from AMK computer has already been modded.  That means that the case has been cut and fans fitted to it.  This is done not only for cooling, but also for looks.  The mods added to this case really keep it cool in both senses.  No benchmarks were taken, but before I switched to this case, my computer was having heat related stability problems.  Upgrading to this case elimated the problems.  Also, before using this case, my GeForce3 would only overclock to 225/500 from the regular 200/460.  When I installed my system in this case, it was able to overclock to 240/540.  That is a significant increase and my system was able to beat a Pentium 4 1.8 with a Geforce3.  I was not even using the new Detonator XP drivers.

Overall, this case rocks.  There is only other feature that I would like to see - another hard drive led.  This is only a personal preference -  but having a raid controller and the motherboard controller, I would like to see the activity of both.  This is very small, but I felt I needed to come up with something to complain about.
