Logitech Z-540 Speaker System

Final Score and last comments

Highs

  • Inexpensive

  • M3D Matrix Surround Decoder

  • Solid Bass

  • Nice midrange

  • Cool design

Lows

  • No headphone jack

  • Subwoofer controls on sub

  • Permanent speaker wires

The bottom line:

Logitech has again changed the way we look at PC speakers.  At a mere $79, the Z-540′s offer an excellent combination of sound quality, features, and good looks.  While not as feature rich as the high-end Z-560′s, the 540′s are a capable speaker system that can deliver wall-shaking sound for a price that almost seems unreal.  A headphone jack is the only glaring weakness of the system, although this feature is often missing on mid-range systems.  If you are looking for a moderately priced system that won’t let you down when playing games, watching movies, or even blasting MP3′s in the dorm, the Z-540′s deserve a look.

The z-540 does not, in fact, have a headphone jack. There is no slot in which to plug a headphone in.
