Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 Upgrade Causing Catastrophic Failure On Some Macs

There have been reports that the OS X Tiger 10.4.11 (the release previous to Leopard) is causing some Macs to freeze up and absolutely refuse to boot without a clean installation.

This is as bad as an upgrade can get because you’re not upgrading anything. Rather, you’re losing everything first (including all the music you paid for on iTunes) then reinstalling the OS from scratch.

Sources are initially pointing to Boot Camp as the problem with the upgrade and are recommending to remove that utility entirely before upgrading.

Others are saying DO NOT upgrade to 10.4.11 if you are an existing Tiger user and wait for Apple to release a fix.. for the, um.. upgrade fix. Yeah. Really great bang-up job, Apple. Rah-rah.

Can’t anyone release something anymore without it completely screwing up your system?
