While I was personally never into Mechwarrior, I knew several people who were very into it. So for those you who enjoy the mechanized combat, you will be happy to know that Mechwarrior 4 is available as a free download.
Studio MekTek, in association with Smith and Tinker, INC., Virtual World Entertainment, LLC, Catalyst Game Labs, and Microsoft Games, is happy to announce the release of Mechwarrior4 Free.
Getting started is easy. Just download and install MTX, MekTek’s free content delivery and updating system. Once installed, simply click the Games Available tab, select Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries and click install. The game will download and install, all within MTX, and as updates become available, MTX will help you keep your game up to date.
Again, I was never much for this game but I know it has a passionate following. So if you have given Mechwarrior 4 a spin, let us know how it looks in the comments.

i try to download the game but im have a a very big problem with with MekTek X ver 1.0.3.5
first off when i did load the installer it take me to wher i wish to put file- and that wher it jam up all the time– then i get our sever are under heavy load web page viewing in MTX is disabled
i did noting else– no game loading that for sure
