Microsoft has released an advance notification of the security updates that are forthcoming. Here’s what we have to look forward to:

Critical updates: 3
"Important" updates: 4

Of the critical updates, the one that will get most people’s attention is the one that affects DirectX; the software that’s required to play tons of games.

It is most likely true that when the patches are applied, game companies will also be releasing patches of their own to accommodate for the DirectX fixes.

When the MS patches are deployed, it’s probably a smart move to also update the games you play that require DirectX - should updates be available.
