Multiplatform Screen Capture Program

A very handy utility for anyone to have is a screen capture program. While OS’s typically have this functionality built in (usually via the Print Screen button), the features are very limited. While there are several utilities available which accomplish this task (both free and commercial), one to check out is JShot.

JShot is a Java based screen capture program. From the description on their web site:

JShot is a free and multiplatform screen capture and uploader utility which runs on various operating systems. It allows you to capture a part of your screen and publish it in one step. It is useful if you want to link your screenshot to your instant messaging or chat/irc partner. You can upload your screenshot to an arbitrary FTP server, Image hosting server (like ImageShack) or send it to your  Instant Messaging (such as Skype) partner. It also copies the link of your screenshot to the clipboard, so you can publish your shot in one single step.

I have toyed around with this, but I believe it still has a bit of work to do (as of yet, hot keys are not supported) to replace my current screen capture duo of ZoomIt (screen markup) then ScreenHunter (screen capture). I am definitely keeping an eye on this one though because I believe it is only a matter of time before the features make this one hard to pass up.

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...
