Now that I’ve settled down about it, I can start bitching about it

COMDEX ’99 – Everything new, everything expensive.  Some of you might have went there, but most of you probably didn’t.  If you did go, you probably noticed something similar to the playboy mansions in some areas.  Companies decided to use very attractive woman, in tight blouses and mini-skirts to attract of all of you nerds out there, because of course, what nerd doesn’t like a hottie in a short skirt?  But, in all seriousness now, I’m about to chastise the companies that did that like you wouldn’t believe.  Think about this:  If their products were truly good, like 3Dfx or AMD, they wouldn’t need hotties to attract the people.  All they would need is the word VOODOO or ATHLON above their booth.  And even though they spent an ungodly amount of money on booth space and design, it was probably well worth it to these companies to hire some whores to stand in their booths and hit on everyone.  But, don’t you think, that if they actually had quality products, they wouldn’t need to hire out the ladies?  And to the companies: (you know who you are) maybe next year you won’t need to pray on a mans hormones to sell stuff.  This industry, although it’s loosing them, has ethics.  And to be a respected company in my eyes, you should follow those ethics.  The only company I have seen really follow ethics, would be Cyrix (but then again, look how they turned out.)  They never really copied other’s products, tried to be as innovative as they could on their own, and never rose prices because they had a monopoly on the market.  Nor, did they bully around other companies.
