Pictured right, NVIDIA’s Quadro FX 5800, a video card that has more video RAM than most people have for system RAM.
Well I suppose if NVIDIA didn’t do it I’m sure someone else would have.
Did you just build the most awesomest superest kick-assing-est computer ever (most likely for gaming)? Well, guess what – it’s obsolete. Darn that modern technology.
Okay, in all seriousness, yes this card can be used (obviously) – but certainly not for gaming because what a waste that would be. If you want a real-world example of where this sucker can be put to good use, that would be medical imaging.
Oh, and if you want one, it’s $3,499.
And I swear, if I hear one gamer nerd say, "LOL HOW MANY FPS CAN I GET ON FULL SETTING CRYSIS WITH THAT?!" or anything to that effect, I will personally come to your house and kick you in the jewels.

LOL HOW MANY FPS CAN I GET ON FULL SETTING HALF LIFE 2 WITH THAT!!!!???
Probably 80,000,000,000,000.
I’m coming over to your house Wednesday. Wear a cup.
LOLZ OMG OWNZ I WANT ONE NOW!!!!!!!!!11111111ONE
I’m coming over to your house Thursday. Wear a cup.
…good thing I have my brother’s old jock from baseball a couple years ago.
Of course, if you were to buy this baby you wouldn’t need to worry about upgrading for a LONG time. You could run anything you threw at it, too. Maybe worth the money… *cough* >_>
Who’s next to book an appointment with Rich on Wednesday while wearing a cup?
Make that Friday (forgot he was booked out Wed/Thurs)
Sorry; long way and no cajones: You can drop by if you like though.
That would be awesome on a 64-bit gaming system in a few years when the price comes down though: Think; Windows 7 64-bit with 12 GB DDR3 RAM and -> 4GB garphics RAM!. Minbdblowing! I might even be tempted to become a gamer with a system like that.
You’re all idiots.
The way the card is set up, the gaming performance is crippled. You could hack the BIOS so it acts like it’s Desktop sibling (The Work station cards are just versions of certain desktop cards with different display ports, and more RAM. You’re actually paying for the drivers).
This is just a 280 GTX with some more RAM. RAM doesn’t make it more powerful, nor does it mean this will last you for 5 years without a need to upgrade.
As pedantic as Tim sounds, hi is right in every point. Specially the part.
I wrote MemorySize!=Power among “” and it didnt show up. Did it read it asa html tag?
