OS Wars Takes To The Radio On Saturday

At PCMech, we love debating operating systems. And views on operating system choices seem to be every bit as strong as your choice of presidential candidate.

Here at PCMech, we have a long history of being Windows-centric. Windows is, of course, the most common operating system in use by our visitors. Most of the world uses it. We also have a Linux crowd that does frequent PCMech and they are usually die-hard fanatics of the OS. Then, last year, I went full steam ahead into the world of Apple with my purchase of a Mac Pro. Since then, I have purchased both a Mac Mini and a MacBook Pro. Now that I am a full-time Mac user, I have brought more Apple coverage to PCMech where it was lacking before.

old_fashion_radio_microphone_hg_wht This coming Saturday, June14th, 2008, I am going to be on SOS Computer Talk Show, a local, Tampa area computer talk show on 1040AM WWBA. I will be joined by a few other techies and we are going to use the entire hour to debate which operating system is the best. I told him that I can talk equally about any of the three, but for the purpose of the show, I will be batting hard for the Mac.

So, I’ll be playing it by ear. I’m sure we’re going to have some callers come in with strong views. If audience reaction on PCMech to an OS editorial is any indication, I would venture to say the callers will get their panties in a wad, too. :)

Showtime is 1 PM EST and it is a one hour show. PCMech actually does the news segment at the beginning of the show every week, too.

If you are in the Tampa Bay area, you can tune in on the radio at 1040AM. If you are anywhere else in the world, you can tune in on the Internet by just pointing your browser at the 1040AM live audio feed.

If you would like to call into the show, here are your numbers:

  • Tampa: 813-289-1040
  • Pinellas: 727-577-1040
  • Toll-Free From Anywhere: 1-877-355-1040

And with that, we’ll see how it goes! Perhaps we’ll be talking to you, too.

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...

I could not listen to the broadcast at that time and wanted to ask if you were going to post it on pcmech.
