Outlook Express Paperclips But No Attachments

“I use Outlook Express in my computer. All the e-mails in input box come with the clip, and there’s nothing attached. Could you please say something about? Thanks.”

The most common cause of this problem is your anti-virus program. If you have your anti-virus program configured to automatically scan incoming emails, it may be saving the results of the scan as an attachment.

AVG Anti-Virus will do that if you have it configured to “certify” incoming email.

If you have AVG, open the Control Center, click on “Email Scanner” then at the bottom, click on the Properties button. In the Window that opens, click on the Configure button. Uncheck “Certify Mail” under “Check Incoming Mail.” Click OK and OK again, close the Control Center.

That will not stop AVG from scanning the mail. It will just stop it from telling you it’s okay and adding that attachment.

If you are using an older version of Outlook Express, it could simply be that any email which has an image embedded into it will show as an attachment.
