While the paste text functionality is available in the Windows command prompt, it is not very intuitive and requires configuration to set up and use. To be consistent with every other Windows application, wouldn’t it be great if Ctrl+V worked for pasting your clipboard contents into the command prompt as well? To enable this functionality, just follow the instructions in this article.
In order to make this work, you do have to use AutoHotkey (which also allows you to do many other nifty functions). For people who use the command line quite a bit this is fantastic functionality to have. I have it enabled on my Windows 7 machine and now when I press Ctrl+V on the command line I no longer see “^V”, instead I get exactly what is in my clipboard.
Awesome.

Nice find. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen “^V”…
