PCLinuxOS Phoenix Edition 2011-07

A short while ago I did a quick review of the PCLinuxOS “KDE MiniMe”, a slimmed-down edition using the KDE desktop environment. Phoenix Edition uses XFCE, which runs lighter and faster than KDE does. Phoenix is definitely light on its feet and a breeze to use. See video below for details.

  1. Nice video showing the speed of XFCE and clean interface. I prefer it or LXDE over all the others. So many people do not realize how simple Linux is, especially PCLinuxOS. There are a few learning curves but plenty of documentation to get the new user through it. What’s up next, openSuse?

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, GrabPenny.com

I never used Linux before. So, is it KDE better or Phoenix better? I got AMD X2 4000, 6gb ram and 1TB HD. Thanks for the review! It seems great to test out Linux but there are many software that I’m afraid not compatible in linux.

Thank you for an intelligent and proper review of the PCLinuxOS XFCE edition. How refreshing to find a review not done by a 12 year old kid, drunk or person with an agenda.
