Peep Show @ PCMech LIVE

I’m trying something a little different at PCMech. We’ll see if I keep it around. I have set up a channel on Ustream.TV for PCMech, and have set up PCMech LIVE.

PCMech LIVE is simply a webcam live feed, direct from my office. What you’re going to see on screen is going to vary. Sometimes you’re going to see a live feed of one of my computer monitors (consider it a live screencast). Other times you’re going to see a camera view of my monitors only. Other times, I’m going to flip the camera around so that you can see me. Depends on whether I’m having a bad hair day or not.

livefeed The live feed is accompanied by a live chat feed, also hosted by Ustream. So, you’ll be able to chat with me and each other. Just a short notice, though, I do actually work for a living which means I am not always going to answer you in chat. You just never know.

Now, where is this thing going? What value does it have for PCMech? Well, most of the time, it’s just going to be a peep show, admittedly. But, the plan is to do occasional live sessions where I might actually take calls over Skype or perhaps I’ll just answer questions you submit via live chat. A real-time conversation.

Now, please be easy on me, brother! I’m not a tech support guy. I do not work on computers for a living. So, honestly said, it you throw me some computer problem doosey, don’t be surprised if I cannot debug it. I mean, we get a lot of mysterious issues emailed to us here all the time. Not only is it incredibly time consuming to provide tech support, it is often inaccurate at best because we cannot sit there and watch your screen. For more personal support, I suggest you sign up as a member of PCMech EDU. There I will pay attention to your computer support issues.

In the live feed, we’ll talk current events in technology, Internet, editorials, etc. This will be more interesting.

So, this is our new experiment. It may not be TV, but hey, we’ll see how it goes. You can catch the feed on the PCMech homepage as well as PCMech LIVE.
