Just in case you missed this one, Picasa is available natively for Linux.
In true “G” style, it’s more or less identical to the Windows version. So for those who like Picasa (including yours truly), you don’t have to WINE it anymore because the big G has the goods.
As a small side note that is a teeny tiny bit comical, on the page under the System Requirements section in states verbatim:
“Should work on any Linux system with Intel 386-compatible processor,
glibc 2.3.2 or greater, and a working X11 display system.”
Yes, you read that correctly. Should work. Not will work.
In all seriousness, there’s a 99% chance it will work on your *nix desktop. But because there’s a million and one flavors of distros out there, that’s why the “should” is present.

Cool beans! Thanks for passing the good news.
I’ve got a love hate relationship with Picacsa, but it interfaces so well with Picacsa web albums which is why I keep it.
picasa for Linux is not a native app. It is the windows binary wrapped in Wine which is why it is identical to the windows version
Take a look at /opt/picasa/ after “picasa for Linux” is installed. You will find wine installed there with Picasa binary installed as /opt/picasa/wine/drive_c/Program Files/Picasa2/Picasa2.exe
