Plastic Surgery

Modifying, Painting, and drilling cases have become quite the rage lately. Painting your case camouflage to fit in with your wallpaper, or putting nifty little flames on the sides like the muscle cars of the past. It’s really cool to do, especially if you’ve got extra spray paint laying around. Unfortunately, I’m too lazy to show you guys any pictures, because I haven’t been able to find the time to paint my case. Turning your case into a whale is another nifty little “case mod.” By drilling a hole in the top of your case, and having that fan blowing out, you can greatly reduce the temperature of your case, because as we all know, hot air rises. There are all other ways of modifying your case, like drilling a hole and having a fan blow fresh air over your processor, putting your hard drive in a 5.25″ drive bay and having a pair of fans blow over it. It’s even become so popular that companies are actually starting to spring up out of know where selling drive bays with fans on the front, so you can install your drive in the bay, and the bay in the computer. Of course, it’ll be more expensive than doing it yourself, but it will probably be easier and more appealing to the eye if you buy. Just remember, computers are people too, and need to be treated as individuals.

Computers Allergic to Dust too!

Speaking of your computer being a person, believe it or not, they’ve got allergies too. Dust is the Prime A #1 for computer choke age. Believe it or not, I’ve seen many computer in my day that were set on the floor and run die of heat stroke from getting clogged up with dust. Just as dust get into our noses and causes us to sneeze and not be able to breath, dust gets in the critical parts of the computer, such as the power supply and CPU heat sink, and reduces the amount of air that makes contact with parts, causing heat to build up, and eventually melt things, or even worse. Be nice to your computer, and when you set your clocks back this fall, along with replacing your smoke detector batteries, make sure you take apart your computer and clean out the dust with a nice can of pressurized air. Whatever you do, don’t use a wet wash cloth, or a paper towel. Those can cause electrical problems.
