There seems to be a movement among the various MMO games where they are opening up the gates for users to play for free. One which just came onboard with this is Lord of the Rings Online which now offers a free account (no credit card required).
While I have never played this game I have heard a fair amount about it and it seems to be a popular choice. When you compare the features between a free and premium account, the differences seem to be very slight with perhaps the most notable being login priority.
So if you are into this type of game and want to give it a try, there is no time like the present.
