For those of you who use Gmail, you’ll have noticed that it’s geared towards creating a new contact for every email you send. While this can often be very convenient (I know for my part, it helps me keep in touch with clients and interviewees), such a feature might not be a boon for everyone. There are a lot of addresses that you’re only going to contact once, and you don’t really want them cluttering up your contact list, do you?
Depending on the volume of email you’re sending each day, deleting them can be a terrible hassle. Thankfully, Google anticipated this – you can turn off automatic contact creation. Here’s how:
1. Log in to your Gmail Account.

Self explanatory, this one is. If you can’t complete this step, I don’t think I can help you.
2. Open the “Mail Settings” Menu at the top right

Click the gear icon on the top right of the screen, and select “Mail Settings”
3. Under “Create Contacts For Autocomplete,” Choose “I’ll add contacts myself”

This option is under the “Genera”l tab- which just so happens to be the first tab you’re taken to when you access your mail settings. So, basically…all you need to do is scroll down, then click. It’s about halfway down the page, give or take.
4. Scroll to The Bottom, Press Save, And You’re Done!

That wasn’t too hard, was it? Now you’ve a bit more control over the contacts that enter into your Gmail address book- and you don’t need to worry about a huge flood of ’junk contacts.’
